New Girl: Jess and Nick getting together?
New Girl in general a hit or miss for us. Some weeks we love the show, other weeks we despise it. Last night’s episode of New Girl was a hit in our minds. Why? Because last night’s episode of New Girl focused on the brewing love story between Nick and Jess. We are a sucker for love stories.We love any episode where we have an opportunity to get our “aww” on, even if they are cheesy (yes, we were the kids in the 90s who said “ooooohhhhh” with the audience soundtrack, don’t judge). As a result we loved last night’s New Girl episode.
Cece, Jess’ model friend, crashed with Jess during this week’s New Girl episode. Cece revealed to Jess that Nick was in love with her and that she was being oblivious to the clues, which included having his feet pointed toward Jess when he spoke to her.
Jess, in typical Jess fashion, completely flipped out upon learning this fact. Her anxiety boiled over at the convenient store where Jess and Nick went to buy items for the apartment (most notably toilet paper) and Nick insisted on pointing his feet towards her.

This week’s episode of New Girl reminded us why we’ve fallen in love with Nick during the season. There is something so sincere about Nick’s character. Something so kind, yet so naive. He doesn’t want to care about Jess and yet he can’t help himself. We love watching his internal struggle play out on camera.
We also love that Nick balances Jess out. He is the only one willing to accept Jess’ crazy antics. We love that Nick tolerates Jess even though sometimes she can be unbearable. Nick is Jess’ anchor, he tames down her wackiness. So any time we see Nick and Jess coming together we swoon. Not really because we love Jess and Nick as a couple, but because we love Nick so much and want him to end up in a relationship that makes him happy.
Unfortunately, our favorite New Girl couple has some obstacles coming up in the future. Apparently Nick and Jess will have to admire each other from afar. According to a recent interview with Jake Johnson, who plays Nick, the couple will not be coming together anytime soon. Johnson told CNN that he doesn’t believe his character Nick has the guts to pursue Jess “right now.” In the interview he also discusses some other issues that may keep the couple apart for awhile. We have to say we are disappointed to here that we are so far off from a Nick and Jess moment but not at all surprised. We’ve watched enough TV to know that a Nick and Jess are not getting together anytime soon. We can’t wait for the oh so common girl is forced to choose between two men, because that is the only thing girls worry about plot to play out with Jess, ultimately resulting in a season finale where she is forced to make a choice. It may be typical, it may even be misogynistic, but we still can’t wait to see it play out.
We can’t help it, despite seeing this plot 100 times we are rooting for Nick and Jess. New Girl wet our appetite last night and we can’t wait to see what happens in the weeks to come with the couple.
